Aspecte privind activitatea Consiliului oamenilor muncii de naționalitate sârbă din județul Timiș în perioada 1968-1972
Abstract: (Aspects regarding the activity of the Council of working people of Serbian nationality in Timiș County during the period 1968-1972) In 1968 the leadership of the Romanian Communist Party decided to found the Councils of the working people of the main minorities in Romania, which were to be part of the Socialist Unity Front. By organizing these new bodies, the Romanian communist leaders sought in fact full control over the minorities living on Romanian territory. The Council of Serbian Workers in Timiș County (a similar organisation was also active in Caraș-Severin County) had the task (in fact the obligation) to mobilize the Serbian population to participate in the main political events from the mentioned period, to undertake propagandist actions among them in order to make known the internal and foreign policy of the RCP and the Romanian state. Last but not least, it was meant to contribute to the achievement of the "new man" of communist type. Besides these objectives, which, given the historical context, could not be refused, the leadership of the Council (made up mostly of intellectuals) sought to defend the rights of the Serbian population, to preserve the cultural traditions of the Serbs in Banat and to contribute to the development of their spiritual life. In this respect, there were concerns for the development of the school network in Serbian, the endowment of Serbian schools and wards with quality textbooks, of their libraries with representative works of Serbian people of culture and science. On the other hand, the aim was to create artistic bands in localities with Serbian population (ensembles of songs and dances, theater bands, literary circles), to highlight the creations of Serbian writers and painters, as well as of valuable ethnographic pieces belonging to this ethnicity. Despite some difficulties, the activity of the members of the Council was beneficial for the Serbian population in Timiș County, boosted its cultural and artistic life and contributed to the preservation of the traditions of a community that played an important role in the history of this province.

Rezumat: În anul 1968 conducerea Partidului Comunist Român a hotărât constituirea Consiliilor oamenilor muncii ale principalelor minorități din România, care urmau să facă parte din Frontul Unității Socialiste. Prin organizarea noilor organisme, de fapt liderii comuniști români urmăreau controlul deplin și asupra minorităților care locuiau pe teritoriul românesc. Consiliul oamenilor muncii de naționalitate sârbă din județul Timiș (o organizație similară a activat și în județul Caraș-Severin) avea ca sarcină (obligație desigur) să mobilizeze populația sârbă pentru a participa la principalele evenimente politice din perioada pe care am analizat-o, să întreprindă acțiuni propagandistice în rândul acesteia pentru a face cunoscută politica internă și externă a PCR și a statului român și nu în ultimul rând să contribuie la realizarea ,,omului nou”, de tip comunist. Pe lângă aceste obiective care în contextul istoric dat nu puteau fi refuzate, conducerea Consiliului (alcătuită în mare parte din intelectuali) a căutat să apere drepturile populației sârbe, să păstreze tradițiile culturale ale sârbilor din Banat, să contribuie la dezvoltarea vieții spirituale a acestora. În acest sens au existat preocupări în vederea dezvoltării rețelei școlare în limba sârbă, înzestrării școlilor și secțiilor în limba sârbă cu manuale școlare de calitate, a bibliotecilor cu lucrări reprezentative ale oamenilor de cultură și de știință sârbi. Pe de altă parte s-a urmărit crearea de formații artistice în localitățile cu populație sârbă (ansambluri de cântece și jocuri, formații de teatru, cenacluri literare), punerea în valoare a creațiilor scriitorilor, pictorilor sârbi, precum și a pieselor etnografice de valoare aparținând acestei etnii. În ciuda unor dificultăți, activitatea membrilor Consiliului a fost benefică pentru populația sârbă din județul Timiș, a impulsionat viața cultural-artistică a acesteia, a contribuit la conservarea tradițiilor unei comunități care a avut un rol important în istoria provinciei.
