Metamorfozele memoriei. Biblioteca Centrală Universitară din Timişoara în memoria arhivei şi în memoria cititorilor
Abstract: (Metamorphosis of memory. The Central University Library of Timişoara in the memory of the archive and in the memory of the readers) The Central University Library of Timișoara served the public with the necessary information and was not totally politically enthralled between 1948 and 1990. From the archives and testimonies of the interviewees, it appears that the University of Timișoara Library was also a source of intellectual pleasure, happiness. What I aimed to explore in the interviews and in the documents in the archives, is the information about the reading habits, about the university library collections during the totalitarian regime. In the present case study we aimed to identify the analogies contained in the written memory and the oral memory regarding the history of the library of the University of Timişoara. Starting from the documents in the files of the West University of Timişoara Archive and from the testimonies resulting from the interviews, we aim to answer questions related to reading in the library, the collections held by the library, the significance of the library during the communist regime. The validity of the information is highlighted by the certification of the statements obtained from the interviewed subjects by their overlap with the data held from other primary sources. Examining the oral texts reveals common themes and recurrent words in several of the respondents, which leads to the conclusion that individual memory outlines an image of the library.

Rezumat: Biblioteca Centrală Universitară din Timișoara a furnizat publicului cititor informaţiile necesare şi nu a fost total subjugată politic în perioada cuprinsă între 1948 și 1990. Din arhive şi din mărturiile persoanelor intervievate, reiese că biblioteca Universităţii din Timişoara a deţinut în colecţii bibliografiile indicate studiului şi că lectura era şi o sursă a plăcerii intelectuale, o fericire. Ceea ce am urmărit să explorez în interviurile realizate şi în documentele din arhive sunt informațiile despre ce oferea biblioteca pentru lectură, modul în care se citea în biblioteca universitară, cum era lectura în timpul regimului totalitar. În prezentul studiu de caz am urmărit să identific analogiile conţinute de memoria scrisă şi memoria orală referitoare la istoria bibliotecii Universităţii din Timişoara. Pornind de la documentele aflate în dosarele din Arhiva Universităţii de Vest din Timişoara şi de la mărturiile rezultate în urma interviurilor, ne propunem să răspundem la întrebări legate de lectura în bibliotecă, de semnificaţia bibliotecii în perioada regimului comunist. Validitatea informaţiilor este evidenţiată de certificarea declaraţiilor obţinute de la subiecţii intervievaţi prin suprapunerea lor cu datele deţinute din alte surse primare. În urma analizării celor spuse de către respondenţi, se desprind mai multe direcţii de cercetare care conduc la concluzia că memoria individuală furnizează o imagine nuanțată a bibliotecii, completează istoria îndosariată cu noi aspecte.
