Abstract: (The biography of the character as the foundation of the construction of the role) The theater character has a biography - clear or diffuse - a biography that, depending on the type of performance and the director's vision, is deduced along the way from actions, from what the character says, from the relationship and interaction or lack of interaction with others, from what others say about the character and how it acts and relates to the stage reality. The character also follows a path it has to follow - a series of events that the author brings to the stage by interpreting and constructing situations into stage actions. By following all these elements, the actor extracts and builds character traits - what we generally call the character's way of being and which can be easily fitted into a typology, or, on the contrary, eludes this categorization and needs new creative configurations. By analyzing the two roles in the context of the performances, from the perspective of the importance of biography in the analysis and then in the construction of the role, I tried to understand and exemplify an idea. Namely, that this element - biography - becomes a mobile and adaptable element. The actor's art pursues transformation, metamorphosis, as such, the path of role construction has the right to draw its own perspectives. Thus, the biography from which the actor's work in constructing the role starts remains an essential element, but it does not have the rigor of limitation, instead it opens up new perspectives.
