Vocabulele candorii în latină și în limbile romanice
Abstract: (The Terminology of Candor in Latin and the Romance Languages) In Latin language, the terms candor,-ōris and candǐdus (3) are used to express the concept of "shining white", but also the idea of "purity, innocence, blamelessness". This dual connotation – chromatic as well as moral – can be identified in their Romance language reflexes: candoare and candid (Romanian); candeur and candide (French); candore and candido (Italian); candor and cándido (Spanish) etc. The literary works of the Romance space offer numerous such examples, the words for candor being well represented in the artistic vocabulary, which exploits stylistically the oscillation between the concrete, physical sense and its figurative counterpart.

Rezumat: În limba latină, termenii candor,-ōris şi candǐdus(3) sunt utilizaţi pentru a exprima conceptul de ʻalb strălucitorʼ, dar şi pentru a desemna ideea de ʻpuritate, inocenţă, nevinovăţieʼ. Acest dublu semantism – cromatic şi moral deopotrivă – se regăseşte şi la reflexele lor romanice: candoare şi candid (română); candeur şi candide (franceză); candore şi candido (italiană); candor şi cándido (spaniolă) etc. Operele literare din spaţiul romanic ne furnizează numeroase exemple de acest gen, vocabulele din gama candorii fiind bine reprezentate în limbajul artistic, ce valorifică stilistic oscilaţia lor între sensul concret, fizic şi cel figurat.
