Denominaciones, metáforas cognitivas y terminología. ¿Cómo se refleja una crisis puntual en los medios de España y Rumanía?
Abstract: (New international crises and their terminologies) The aim of present study is to examine the way in which the international electricity crisis of 28 April 2025, that affected France, Spain and Portugal, was represented in the Spanish and Romanian media. The initial hypothesis of the research is that the media across different countries tend to have a different perspective on the same event, depending on whether they are directly or indirectly affected. Based on this working hypothesis and using a bilingual corpus (ES-RO), the following research objectives were set: (1) to observe the terms used to refer to the blackout in news headlines, (2) to identify the cognitive metaphors used in this context, and (3) to extract the specialised terminology used in relation to the event. The results show notable differences between the two languages. It also highlights a broad specialised vocabulary related to electrical infrastructure, which quickly emerged in public discourse and disappeared once the crisis ended. This vocabulary is important for understanding how communities cope with sudden critical events cognitively and linguistically.

Resumen: El presente estudio examina la manera en que la crisis internacional de electricidad del 28 de abril de 2025 que afectó a Francia, España y Portugal se ha representado en los medios de comunicación españoles y rumanos. La hipótesis de partida de la investigación es que los medios de varios países tienen una perspectiva diferente sobre el mismo acontecimiento, en función de si les afecta directamente o indirectamente. A partir de dicha hipótesis y basándonos en un corpus bilingüe (ES-RO), se han planteado los siguientes objetivos de investigación: (1) observar las denominaciones utilizadas para designar el apagón en los titulares, (2) identificar las metáforas cognitivas utilizadas en este contexto y (3) extraer la terminología especializada que se ha utilizado en relación con el suceso. Los resultados muestran diferencias notables entre los dos idiomas y también destacan un vocabulario especializado amplio, relacionado con la infraestructura eléctrica, de aparición efímera, que surgió rápidamente en el discurso público y desapareció una vez superada la crisis. Dichos términos son relevantes para entender cómo las sociedades gestionan cognitiva y lingüísticamente los acontecimientos críticos repentinos.
