Navegación y navegadores en el siglo XXI. Metáfora cognitiva e Internet en rumano

Abstract: (Navigation and navigators in the 21st century. Cognitive metaphor and Internet in Romanian) In the current paper we develop a general theoretical framework based on the works of Lakeoff&Johnson (1980&2003), Tokar (2007 y 2009), Jamet (2008), and Graham (2013) in the field of cognitive metaphors of the Internet. The present paper aims to describe one structural metaphor of the Internet: INTERNET IS OCEAN/SEA/WATER in Romanian. Our initial hypothesis is that even if the most of cognitive metaphors related with Internet have their origin in English, their conceptual structure will be adapted to the new culture the metaphor is used. This fact leads to the creation of distinct terminological metaphors and phraseology in other languages. Our research aims to identify the extent of the structural metaphor mentioned above in Romanian, to establish an inventory of these metaphors. We also make a clear distinction between terminology used by the specialists and phraseology used by current users of the internet since, terminology is generally the result of the translation of specialised texts while the phraseology appears spontaneously in daily communication. We consider that our study will provide extended and actualized data about the metaphorical terminology and phraseology of the Internet in Romanian.

Keywords: cognitive metaphor, structural metaphor, Internet, terminology, metaphor, romanian terminology.
