Constatările ziarului caransebeşan „Renaşterea”, de la începutul secolului al XX-lea, cu privire la cercetarea ştiinţifică noutestamentară occidentală reflectată în opera teologului Petru Barbu
Abstract: (Findings of ‘Renasterea’ newspaper from Caransebes in the early 20th century, regarding the occidental scientific research on the New Testament reflected in the theologian Petru Barbu's work) At the turn of 19th and 20th centuries, the Theological School from Caransebeş was noted as one of the best educational ecclesial institutions in the eastern part of the Habsburg Empire. This was confirmed by valuable scholars, by the Institute’s library, by the areas of education and above all by hierarchs‘desire to develop a theological higher education. Among other appreciated researchers father Petru Barbu was included. At the same time, in Caransebeş, the controversial magazine" Renaşterea" was launched. This was guided by the lawyer Nicolae Ionescu, son of the father from Iaz - Nicolae Ionescu. Professor Petru Barbu was somberly portrayed by the representatives of the aforementioned press authority. This representation was possible through the crystallization of certain parties during those time’s effervescent times.

Rezumat: Şcoala teologică din Caransebeş la cumpăna celor două secole s-a remarcat în estul Imperiului Habsburgic, ca una dintre cele mai bune instituţii de învăţământ eclesial. Realitatea aceasta a fost confirmată de cadrele didactice valoroase, biblioteca Institutului, spaţiile de învăţământ şi mai presus de toate dorinţa ierarhilor de a dezvolta studiile superioare teologice. Printre cercetătorii apreciaţi s-a numărat şi părintele Petru Barbu. Tot atunci a apărut în Caransebeş controversata revistă „Renaşterea” coordonată de avocatul Nicolae Ionescu, fiul părintelui din Iaz – Nicolae Ionescu. Prin coagularea unor tabere, în contextul evenimentelor efervescente din acele vremuri, preofesorul Petru Barbu a fost creionat sumbru de reprezentanţii organului de presă amintit.
