Strutture binarie e ternarie nei proverbi italiani e romeni
Abstract: (Binary and ternary structures in the Italian and Romanian proverbs) The review of 13 dictionaries of Italian proverbs and of 14 collections of Romanian proverbs and sayings led us to the conclusion that there is a consistent similarity of formal structure based on two and three elements in the paroemiological heritage of both languages. One first class of proverbs establish an equivalence between their two parts and mostly a formal symmetry. We identified al least seven types of similar constructs in Italian and Romanian, among which implicit and explicit comparisons, subjective sentences introduced by It. chi and Rom. cine….; structures such as It. Come… cosi and Rom. Cum…. asa ; It Quanto…. tanto, che… che and Rom. cât….atât; It. Né…né and Rom. nici… nici; It. Dove…, (là) and Rom., Unde… acolo, as well as some equivalences with or without an expressed verb. We also noticed the existence of at least other five categories of binary proverbs, the two elements of which are perceived as lacking equal proportion and importance. The work suggests also a short analysis of proverbs based on a three terms structure. In the most interesting of those, the two initial elements, semantically less charged, playfully introduce the surprise-element of the string. The paper provides lots of examples in both languages, followed by the abbreviation of the bibliographical source.

Riassunto: L’intervento prende spunto dallo spoglio di 13 dizionari di proverbi italiani (di cui sette raccolte di proverbi regionali) e di 14 dizionari di proverbi romeni e si propone di osservare la materia paremiologica delle due lingue tramite gli effetti stilistici degli enunciati a struttura binaria e ternaria. Si prendono in analisi, per primo, i costrutti a due costituenti (elementi in relazione, paragoni, contrasti) che, spesso anche all’uso della rima e di effetti prosodici, conferiscono un senso di posatezza formale, di piena stabilità espressiva. Tali strutture binarie generano – a volte – parallelismi, antonimie e chiasmi interessanti (come in: viata uraste iar moartea impaca; oggi a me, domani a te; sanatatea face banii, iar banii sanatatea) con frequenti effetti giocosi e umoristici (decât un înţelept mort, mai bine un măgar viu; meglio un asino vivo che un dottore morto). Tra le strutture ternarie spiccano quelle nate da un gusto ludico accomunante, che conferisce ai primi due elementi della lista la parte di falsi introduttori del terzo elemento-sorpresa (come in: tre cose cacciano l’uomo di casa: il fumo, la casa mal coperta e la ria femmina).
