Un intento de análisis comparativo de las traducciones de la obra de Jorge Luís Borges
Abstract: (An Attempt towards a Comparative Analysis of the Translations of Jorge Luis Borges’s Work) With the present paper, we aim to compare three versions of the Romanian translations of Borges’s work, more precisely Darie Novăceanu’s variant, Moartea şi busola (Death and the Compass), EdituraUnivers, Bucharest, 1972, the 1998 variant by Cristina Hăulică, Andrei Ionescu and Darie Novăceanu, Opere I (Works I), Editura Univers, Bucharest, and the 2006 translation made by Andrei Ionescu, Moartea şi busola (Death and the Compass), Polirom, Iaşi. We will analyse the various elements pertaining to Translation Studies that prove Darie Novăceanu’s translation to be a less inspired variant, and the ones used by Andrei Ionescu, whose choices we consider much more inspired. We will also take into consideration the literary-historical context during which these translations have been published and their reception in the Romanian press of the time.

Resumen: En este trabajo nos proponemos comparar tres versiones de las traducciones al rumano de la obra de Borges, más exactamente la versión de Darie Novăceanu, Moartea şi busola, Editorial Univers, Bucarest, 1972, la versión de 1998, de Cristina Hăulică, Andrei Ionescu y Darie Novăceanu, Opere I, Editorial Univers, Bucarest, y la versión de 2006 de Andrei Ionescu, Moartea şi busola, Polirom, Iaşi. Analizaremos los elementos traductológicos que hacen de la traducción de Darie Novăceanu una versión menos lograda y los utilizados por Andrei Ionescu, que consideramos muy inspirados. Haremos referencias también al contexto histórico-literario en el cual aparecieron las respectivas traducciones y al eco que produjeron en la prensa rumana.
