Las intervenciones realizadas a través de la técnica de la ruptura de la cuarta pared en la película Fuimos canciones
Abstract: (The interventions made through the technique of breaking the fourth wall in the film “Sounds like love”) The technique of breaking the fourth wall has been used throughout time first in theater plays and then in movies and videogames. Through this technique, the character interacts with the audience, erasing the limits between reality and fantasy. The film Fuimos canciones (Sounds like love) was released on Netflix in 2021. It describes Maca’s life, a young woman who works for an influencer, Pipa. Maca suffers an emotional crisis when she discovers that Leo, her ex-boyfriend, has returned to Madrid. He had abandoned her. From time to time, Maca stops talking to the other characters and addresses directly the viewers by looking at the camera. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the interventions made through the technique of breaking the fourth wall, by taking into account various fundamental concepts from the field of pragmatics, such as speech acts (Searle 1976; 1979), inferences and implicatures (Grice 1975; Sperber & Wilson 1995), but also the argumentative structures described by Fuentes Rodríguez and Alcaide Lara (2007). What does Maca say to the viewers when she makes these interventions? How does she make them from the discursive point of view? It has been noted that some of the interventions directed at the viewers are brief, while others are more complex. Through these interventions, Maca justifies her behavior, she puts forward arguments, she clarifies her intentions and she offers replies to the possible implicatures inferred by the viewers from her conversations with other characters. It can be concluded that her final goal is to protect her own image.

Resumen: La técnica de la ruptura de la cuarta pared ha sido utilizada a lo largo del tiempo primero en el teatro y luego también en el cine y en los videojuegos. A través de esta técnica, el personaje interactúa con la audiencia, borrando el límite entre lo real y lo ficticio. La película Fuimos canciones (Sounds like love) se estrenó en Netflix en 2021 y cuenta la vida de Maca, una chica que trabaja para Pipa, una influencer. Maca sufre una crisis emocional cuando se da cuenta de que Leo, su ex novio, ha regresado a Madrid. La había abandonado. De vez en cuando, Maca deja de hablar con los demás personajes y se dirige directamente a los espectadores mirando hacia la cámara. La meta de este trabajo es analizar las intervenciones realizadas a través de la ruptura de la cuarta pared, al tomar en cuenta varios conceptos fundamentales del campo de la pragmática, tales como los actos de habla (Searle 1976; 1979), las inferencias y las implicaturas (Grice 1975; Sperber & Wilson 1995), pero también las estructuras argumentativas descritas por Fuentes Rodríguez y Alcaide Lara (2007). ¿Qué es lo que transmite Maca a los espectadores a través de dichas intervenciones? ¿Cómo las realiza discursivamente? Se ha notado que algunas intervenciones de Maca dirigidas a los espectadores son breves, mientras que otras son más complejas. A través de dichas intervenciones, Maca justifica su conducta, presenta argumentos, aclara sus intenciones y ofrece réplicas a las posibles implicaturas inferidas por los espectadores a partir de sus conversaciones con los demás personajes. Se puede concluir que su meta final es la de proteger su propia imagen.
