Catullus-Poet antic modern și modernist
Abstract: (Catullus – Ancient Modern and Modernist) Poet One of the most popular surviving poets of classical antiquity, Gaius Valerius Catullus, seems to speak to modern readers with a modern voice. He was among the so-called poetae novi of the 1st century BC, the century in which the gallant life, of luxury and parties, was born in Roman society, but combined with literary concerns. The variety of Catullus' simple, direct, spontaneous, profoundly modern lines made him a forerunner of medieval and Renaissance poetry, and starting with the 19th century, scholarly exegesis has turned passionately to his work. Our study attempts to explore the astonishing depths of the poet reflected in poetry that had a profound effect on later Latin poetry and beyond.

Rezumat: Unul dintre cei mai populari poeți care au supraviețuit din Antichitatea clasică, Gaius Valerius Catullus pare să vorbească cititorilor moderni cu o voce modernă. El s-a numărat printre așa-numiții poetae novi ai secolului I î.Hr, secol în care ia ființă în societatea romană viața galantă, de lux și petreceri, însă îmbinată cu preocupări literare. Varietatea versurilor simple ale lui Catullus, directe, spontane, profund moderne l-au transformat într-un precursor al poeziei medievale și renascentiste, astfel încât începând din secolul al XIX-lea exegeza științifică s-a aplecat cu pasiune asupra operei sale. Studiul nostru încearcă să exploreze adâncurile uimitoare ale poetului oglindite în poezia care a avut un efect profund asupra poeziei, latine ulterioare și nu numai.
