Abstract: (Postmodern Poetry from Basarabia in the Context of the Major Changes (1989-1991)) Although initially the Romanian Postmodernism started to flourish throughout the ’60s of the last century, this distinct literary movement was only fully acknowledged and largely popularized due to the generation of poets of the ‘80s , who were the first to give a theoretical and artistic base to this new writing, and hence they promoted it as a fully legitimized literary school. Unlike the Romanian authors, the poets of the ‘80s from Bessarabia were to acquire the peculiarities of the new artistic discourse only later, still hesitating between the profoundly lyricised and idyllic discourse of their predecessors (from which they only gradually broke free) and the innovative directions of the poetry of the times. By 1990 and also during the years to follow, one can easily notice the need to follow the values of the Romanian and European artistic life, which have become a reality with the publication of a series of debut volumes. Against the background of the social-political revolution between 1989 and 1999, Bessarabia was marked by a dramatic literary and cultural change, which became the springboard for the spiritual reinforcement of Romanianness on the left banks of the river Prut.
