Abstract: (Tres tristes tigres by Guillermo Cabrera Infante: narrative voices and its Romanian translation) The image conveyed by Dan Munteanu is his Romanian translation of Tres tristes tigres (Three Trapped Tigers) is of great importance for the comprehension of the narrative techniques used by Guillermo Cabrera Infante, an author who sees literature as a game. In this paper we intend to highlight the elements that give the impression of orality and the particularities of Cuban idiosyncrasy. We will analyse the choices adopted by the Romanian translator in regard to feigned orality and the impression produced in the target language, choices that are primarily characterized by the intent to reduce the distance between the writer, the characters and the reader. We will place significant emphasis on phonetic, graphic, semantic and, in some cases, morphosyntactic tricks and clues present in the predominantly oral and colloquial language, and its transfer to the target language.
