Concepția Școlii Ardelene despre criză, normă și progres în limbă
Abstract: (The Transylvanian School’s Conception of Crisis, Norm, and Progress in Language) Starting from notions of crisis, norme and progress and the idea that a language dies when it ceases to evolve naturally (E. Coșeriu 1997), our paper aims to reflect on the dynamics of language from the perspective of those who propose models for its evolution. At the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century, the representatives of the Transylvanian School (Școala Ardeleană), observing the "damage to their own language", the state of "barbarism" and decline into which its speakers had fallen, developed normative works aimed to "perfect" the mother tongue into an ideal and exemplary language model. In their view, the grammatical norm, although restrictive, is not a form of blocking the evolution of language, but rather an instrument for modernizing it according to the model of European languages of culture.

Rezumat: Plecând de la noțiunile de criză, normă și progres și de la ideea că o limbă moare atunci când încetează să evolueze în mod natural (E. Coșeriu 1997), comunicarea noastră își propune o reflecție asupra dinamicii limbii din perspectiva celor care propun modele de evoluție a acesteia. La sfârșitul secolului al XVIII-lea și la începutul celui de-al XIX-lea, reprezentanții Școlii Ardelene constatând „vătămarea propriei limbi”, starea de „barbarie” și înapoiere în care au ajuns vorbitorii ei, elaborează lucrări normative, care să conducă la „desăvârșirea” limbii materne, la un model de limbă ideal și exemplar. În concepția lor, norma gramaticală, deși restrictivă, nu este o formă de blocare a evoluției limbii, ci, dimpotrivă, un instrument de modernizare a ei după modelul limbilor de cultură europene.
